Sarcastic quip ends student's life
A neighbour has revealed the last words of a US student shot by a police officer.
"I heard a man say, 'Oh you're gonna shoot me?' like sarcastic almost," Mohammad Haidaras toldMy San Antonio.
The sarcastic quip ended the life of 23-year-old Robert Cameron Redus as a campus police officer opened fire on him in a car park outside his apartment near the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, at the weekend.
Police Corporal Chris Carter said pulled over Redus' Ford Ranger 4WD Redus because he was speeding and driving erratically.
My San Antonio reports that a struggle ensued when Redus and the officer emerged from their vehicles.
The officer radioed for help during the altercation and Redus was shot multiple times, according to the report. He died at the scene.

Mr Haidaras, 22, toldMy San Antoniothat he heard the officer say more than once: "Stop resisting, stop resisting" during what he thought was a struggle.
"Then the cop said, 'I'm going to shoot,'" Haidarasl said. "I heard (Redus) say, 'Oh, you're gonna shoot me?' like sarcastic almost."
A silence followed and then the gunfire rang out.
"I jumped up and hid in my closet," Haidarasl said.
Fellow students described Redus as well-liked and compassionate.
The communications student was due to graduate in May.
The police officer, with eight years experience in law enforcement, has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, My San Antonio reports.
