An 18-year-old Brazililan high school student is hoping to auction off her virginity to the highest bidder.

Rebecca Bernardo from Sapeacu wants to raise money to cover the medical costs of her ailing mother, who recently suffered a stroke.

"I made up my mind right after my 18th birthday, that's when my mother suffered a stroke," Rebecca told CNN.

"There comes a time when you have to make decision that get what you want. You have to be strong."

Rebecca's mother doesn't approve of the plan to make money, and instead hopes her daughter will get a job.

Rebecca reportedly turned down a local TV station's offer to cover her medical expenses because Rebecca wants to use the money to re-locate.

A similar stunt in October netted 20-year-old Brazilian woman Catarina Migliorini more than $780,000, payed by an eager Japanese businessmen.

Ms Migliorni said she planned to use the money to help her poverty stricken family.

The video has been viewed more than 21,000 times on YouTube. The highest bid so far is reportedly $35,000.
