Woman spends flight seated next to corpse

We've all been there - screaming kids or a drunk footy team can ruin anyone's flight. But ten hours next to a dead body?

A woman has been reimbursed half the cost of her ticket by Kenya Airways after she was forced to spend 10 hours next to the corpse of a man who died mid-flight.

Lena Pettersson, a journalist from Sweden boarded the flight from Amsterdam to Tanzinia, and noticed the man next to her was ill.

He was sweating profusely and suffering from seizures, but the flight took off anyway.

Flight attendants put a call out to anyone with medical expertise and a passenger began CPR on the ailing traveller, but it was to no avail.

The man died mid-flight, leaving flight attendants unsure what to do next.

They man’s body was wrapped in a blanket and laid across three seats, but his feet stuck across the aisle towards Ms Petterson.

"Of course it was unpleasant, but I am not a person who makes a fuss,"” she told Sveriges Radio.

When the flight landed Ms Petterson complained to Kenya Aiways, but the airline was reluctant to compensate her.

After months of back-and-forth emails she has been reimbursed half of her ticket price.

"I am happy with it. I think it was a reasonable substitute," she said.
