Dawesville golf course for sale

An aerial view of The Cut Golf Course in Dawesville, designed by James Wilcher.

The Cut, one of WA’s best golf courses, is set to change hands with the club members, who bought it in a mortgagee sale in 2009, relisting the ocean-front course for $7.75 million.

The Cut, which opened in 2005, was designed by James Wilcher and traverses undulating dunes next to Country Club Drive in Dawesville.

The course has a par of 72, a total course length from the back tees of 6385m and was constructed with prevailing winds in mind.

It will be sold by Burgess Rawson agent Graeme Clarke and tourism consultant Allan Maller. Mr Maller said the partners in the Cut Members Unit Trust had been running the golf course at a profit but felt it was time to move on.

“This is a well-priced golf course and we are getting a strong response from Asian buyers and Australian hospitality interests,” he said.

The sale includes the Clubhouse, which has a restaurant, brasserie and bar, commercial kitchen, offices, locker rooms and an undercroft storage area.

The zoning of the Clubhouse site also allows for 34 apartments and development plans for 16 apartments have been approved, leaving scope for another 18 to be constructed in the future.

The sellers are registered for GST and the freehold and business will be sold as a going concern for GST purposes.
