hit92.9 claws back radio ratings

Despite a lacklustre start to the year, hit92.9 has come out smiling in the latest radio ratings survey, released today by gfk.

While the Subiaco-based station still lags behind Nova 93.7, 96fm and its sister station Mix 94.5, it has managed to claw its way above 6PR to finish sixth overall in the Perth market.

The station gained 0.9 percentage points for a 7.3 per cent market share and was the only station bar 6iX to experience growth in every single time slot – a drastic increase from the results seen in the first survey of the year in March.

Hit92.9’s breakfast show Heidi, Will and Woody gained more new listeners than any other commercial station in Perth, surging up 1.3 percentage points for a 6.6 per cent slice of the audience pie.

Though the show still hung behind its competitors in seventh place, most other breakfast programs lost listeners, including Mix 94.5’s breakfast crew Clairsy, Shane and Kymba (down 0.7 to 12) and 6PR’s Basil Zempilas and Steve “Millsy” Mills (down 1.1 to 10.6).

Despite still being the reigning king of breakky radio, 720ABC’s Eoin Cameron suffered the biggest hit, losing 1.7 percentage points this survey for a 13.3 per cent stake in the market, while Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun crept up 0.8 percentage points to finish on 12.3 per cent.

In the overall Perth market, Mix94.5 maintained its position as the city’s No. 1 station with 13.4 per cent (down 0.5 points), followed by 96fm (down 0.7 to 11.5) and Nova 93.7 (up 0.2 to 11.4).
