Child’s play

North Perth’s newest pop-up shop is a treasure- trove of all things kid- friendly, from children’s bedding and artwork to storage, decor and a selection of clothing and accessories.

The collaboration between friends Kirsty Frank, of The Greater Good, and Davina Yarker, of Harley and Soo, has seen their two online shops come to life in the leased space on Hobart Street, next door to Hobart Deli cafe.

“Through mutual customers, we discovered that we live only one street away from each other and became friends,” Ms Frank said. “Our kids go to Mt Hawthorn Primary in the neighbouring suburb, so it was the perfect way to manage the work/life balance.”

Ms Frank said they stocked a design-led product line sourced from all over the world, which would appeal to anyone who had children in their life.

“Many of the products are unique and exclusive to us and most of them can’t be found in any other bricks and mortar shops in Perth,” she said.

“We are right across the road from an enclosed park/playground so customers can grab a coffee, take kids for a play and do some shopping!” The pop-up concept is the duo’s second, following a stint in Mt Lawley last year. “When a pop-up shop opportunity on Beaufort Street became available in December last year we came together to share the space,” Ms Frank said. “It was so successful we decided to do it again when this opportunity arose.”

Ms Frank and Ms Yarker said they had found the pop-up complemented their businesses’ online stores. “It gives our existing customers a chance to touch and feel,” Ms Frank said.

“The pop-up store also gives us a great platform to showcase our products and to attract new customers.”

The bright and welcoming shop is fitted out with plywood thanks to a pair of handy husbands, and the ladies have used their kids’ beds and cot as well as furniture, art and rugs from their own homes to decorate the space and keep costs down.

Ms Frank said there was no close date as yet.
