Bandits target shopping centre jewellery stores

Bandits have targeted jewellery stores at two southern shopping centres overnight.

They struck at a shopping centre on South Street, Kardinya, about 2am and again an hour later at a shopping centre on Riseley Street in Booragoon.

The gang broke into the centres, forced their way into the stores and smashed cabinets to get at the jewellery.

Police will investigate if the two robberies are linked.

It is believed in both incidents at least two people were involved.

They were wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with any information regarding these two incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

In an incident last month, a bandit smashed through the doors of the Gateway Shopping Centre on Beeliar Drive and robbed a jewellery store about 2.30am.

The man, who was described as being between 20 and 30 years old, smashed glass panels in the store and stole several items of jewellery.
