Bus depot fire shocks owners
A Midvale couple have been left wondering why this morning after their family bus hire business was the target of an apparent arson attack.
The arson squad will investigate the fire which destroyed one bus and severely damaged another at Dingo Bus Hire on Muros Place.
Firefighters were called to the premises about 3.25am and the fire was extinguished 20 minutes later.
It caused an estimated $45,000 worth of damage.
Dingo Bus Charter owner Sue Reid, 55, received a call from police just before 4am.
By the time Mrs Reid and her husband, Andrew, arrived at the business, the fire was already out and the extent of the damage was revealed.
“It was a complete shock,” she said.
“It’s a very, very quiet area and it seems to be a very safe area.
“Two of our buses are actually parked outside the depot but they’ve been there for years.”

It is understood one of the buses was set on fire and the flames spread to the other.
The buses – two of the nine owned by Dingo Bus Charter – were used for school runs, weddings and birthday parties.
The Reids had just finished renovating the vehicle that was destroyed.
“We just put brand new seats through it a couple of weeks ago,” she said.
“There’s not a lot left of it.”
Mrs Reid said they could not understand why someone would set fire to a bus, but it was not going to keep them down.
“You’d seriously have to ask them, ‘Why?’” she said.
“Do they have nothing better to do at 3am? What good has it done for them? All it’s done is put us out.
“At least nobody was hurt.
“We’ve still got seven buses and we’ve sorted things out for this morning. They’re not going to get at us like that.”
