Teenage girl in hospital after being hit by car

A teenage girl who was hit by a car in Maddington this afternoon is in a critical condition in hospital.

The crash happened about 2.20pm at the intersection of Albany Highway and Kelvin Street.

St John Ambulance paramedics rushed the teenager to Royal Perth Hospital for emergency treatment.

The extent of the girl's injuries is unknown, but they are thought to be life-threatening.

The westbound lanes of Albany Highway in the immediate vicinity of the crash site have been closed by police and will remain closed until further notice.

Major crash investigators have been notified of the crash.
