Body found in Scarborough hotel

UPDATED: Police investigating the discovery of a man's body in a budget hotel room in Scarborough last night say his death is not suspicious.

It is understood police were called to the corner of West Coast Highway and Manning Street about noon yesterday after a staff member found the man's body.

Detectives, forensics officers and a forensic pathologist examined the scene last night.

Police said this afternoon that his death was not suspicious.

A report would be prepared for the coroner.

One Manning Street resident said the deceased man was in his 40s and had been drinking for several days.

He said the accommodation was frequented by backpackers and bikies.

Another resident said police told him the man appeared to have died between 6am and 9am.

A Queensland woman said she saw a man being arrested at the resort two days earlier.
