Highway search for murder clues

Police are combing a section of Tonkin Highway for clues to the murder of Angela Mackinnon this month.

Ms Mackinnon was found dead in her Toodyay home on March 10.

Her brother John, 42, has been charged over her death and with the attempted murder of Ms Mackinnon's teenage son Jesse Henwood.

Major Crime Squad are this morning searching a median strip on Tonkin Highway between Roe Highway Forrestfield and Ranford Road Forrestdale.

The search, which started at 7am and will take place for up to eight hours, will likely have an impact on traffic in the area.

The search will be conducted in two sections with a marked traffic vehicle marking the area where the search team will be operating.

A police spokeswoman said there would be no lane closures but traffic flow would be slowed.

Main Roads have been advised of the intention to conduct this search.
