York death adds to country road toll

A man has died following a car crash near York this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Goldfields Road near Quonamining Road in Badgin about 8.20am after reports a Ford Ranger four-wheel-drive had crashed into a tree.

The 46-year-old driver died at the scene. The crash is believed to have happened between 6am and 8am.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle before it left the road. Calls can be made to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police are also seeking witnesses to a crash that claimed the life of a 43-year-old man in Kelmscott on Sunday.

The man was driving a black Ford Falcon which collided with a Hyundai Elantra and a Mazda sedan at the intersection of Albany Highway and Denny Avenue at about 1.30pm.

The Ford driver died in hospital as a result of his injuries. The drivers of the other vehicles received non life threatening injuries.

The death comes after a grim long weekend on WA roads.

Three people including a 10-year-old boy were killed in car crashes in WA in less than 24 hours over the weekend, the mangled wrecks of some of the vehicles painting a picture of the horror scenes.
