It's so cool for Future fans

About 35,000 revellers made the trip yesterday to Joondalup for Future Music Festival - Perth's biggest one-day musical festival - with cooler weather bringing a more relaxed vibe for the mostly younger crowd.

Joondalup police said yesterday the crowd at HBF Arena were mostly well-behaved.

But police conceded "there are always a few", with organisers dealing with a handful of fence jumpers and a small number of drug-related incidents.

Though some acts were delayed into Perth because of the threatening weather, at 6pm yesterday organisers said the festival had been generally incident-free.

This year organisers focused on more electronic and urban artists, with US hip hop maestro Drake headlining the festival, along with veteran dance masters the Prodigy.

Known to the cool kids as one of the kings of EDM (Electronic Dance Music), Swedish DJ Avicii was also one of the headliners.

Future Music organisers did not have an official crowd figure late yesterday but punters said numbers were "well down" on last year's event.
