Roy Hill mine safety scare

Gina Rinehart's Roy Hill project faces fresh concerns about safety standards after supporting jacks gave way beneath a heavy construction module at the project's processing plant yesterday.

No one was injured, but it was the latest in a series of potentially serious safety incidents at the troubled processing plant.

Last month, the Department of Mines and Petroleum banned the use of cranes and heavy lifting equipment at the Roy Hill processing facility after incidents involving lead contractor Samsung C&T and its subcontractors on the job.
