Police seek witnesses to a fatal motorcyle crash yesterday in which a man lost control of his bike and crashed into a steel post.

A police spokeswoman said the black and silver Honda motorcycle travelled west on Brixton Road about 3.25pm.

At the intersection with William Street, the motorcycle turned north, overtook a vehicle and accelerated away.

"A short distance further along on William Street the rider lost control and collided with a steel pole in the centre median strip between the north and south bound lanes," WA Police said.

"The rider was ejected and died as a result of his injuries.

"The motorcycle came to rest approximately 180 metres further north."
