'Bike versus car attitude must stop'
A cycling summit and better promotion of riders' rights are touted as possible ways to help cut deaths and serious injuries involving cyclists on WA's roads.
Police were yesterday investigating another serious crash - this time between a cyclist and a truck in Osborne Park.
Emergency services were called to King William Road and Collingwood Street about 8.20am after reports of a male cyclist and a Mitsubishi Canter colliding.
The Gwelup rider, 35, had head injuries and was due to have surgery in Royal Perth Hospital yesterday.
The accident came after a public plea from the family of WA triathlete Brynt McSwain, who died in an alleged hit-and-run in Welshpool on Saturday.
Mr McSwain's partner Katey Gibb said the cyclist versus driver mentality had to stop and all road users needed to take care of each other.

Bicycling WA chief executive Jeremey Murray said it was not simply about making the roads safer for cyclists, but making them safer for all users.
"We don't think it's an us versus them situation," he said.
"We are all road users and we all need to take responsibility when on the road."
Transport Minister Dean Nalder said there was scope for better education of cyclists' rights.
Opposition Leader Mark McGowan called for a cycling summit involving all stakeholders. "We owe it to these people, to save their lives," he said.
