Green laser allegedly aimed at police chopper

A man has been charged after allegedly aiming a laser beam at a police helicopter in Mandurah last night.

The 39-year-old Mandurah man is alleged to have used a green laser beam on the helicopter several times while police were conducting aerial patrols over Halls Head at about 8.20pm.

The man was charged after police directed an infrared camera to the origin of the beam and traced it to the front yard of a property on Forward Street, Mandurah.

The man has been charged with using a portable device to direct a visible laser or other narrow beam or visible light at a conveyance.
