Long ban for dog owner
A Willagee woman who neglected her dog so badly its ribs were visible has been banned from owning an animal for 10 years.
Rebecca James, 32, was found guilty of failing to take steps to alleviate harm to her female French mastiff Jazz and failing to comply with a direction notice issued by an RSPCA inspector.
She was also ordered to pay more than $2000 in costs.
Concerns for Jazz first arose in 2012 when an inspector visited James' property.
A veterinary report found the dog was severely malnourished and had suffered from untreated medical conditions.
