Two young people die in outback crash

Police are investigating a fatal crash in Zanthus which claimed the lives of a teenage boy and a young woman of Rawlinna.

At around 8am on 27 July, both were occupants of a Toyota Hilux Utility which was being driven east along the Trans Access Road in Zanthus.

A police spokeswoman said it was not yet known why the driver lost control or the vehicle rolled.

"The 23-year-old woman, who was seated in the rear, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene of the crash," she said.

"The 18-year-old man, who was the driver, was given CPR however died a short time later."

DRIVER DIES IN CANNING VALE CRASH

There were five people in the vehicle at the time. Two passengers also received minor injuries.

Police are investigating the role of alcohol in the crash and whether the occupants were wearing seatbelts.
