Buswell to pay for damaged cars
Former treasurer Troy Buswell will pay for the damage he did to his ministerial car and other vehicles while on his way back from a wedding in February.
Government insurer RiskCover said in a statement released this evening they had received a response from Mr Buswell’s laywers regarding further information requested about what happened on February 22 and 23 when the damage occurred.
“The response stated that Mr Buswell withdraws his claim for insurance cover from RiskCover under the Department of the Premier and Cabinet insurance policy,” the statement said.
“Mr Buswell will, from his own funds, pay for any damage caused to the third party vehicles when the Government vehicle he was driving on 22/23 February 2014 collided with them,” the statement said.
"I am pleased that Troy has done this. It is the right thing to do and I am glad he made that decision," Premier Colin Barnett said.
Mr Buswell has agreed to pay RiskCover the amount it paid to repair the damage caused to his Holden Caprice.
The damage bill to the Government vehicle was $14,700.
