Fugitive leads police on southern suburbs chase

A 22-year-old southern suburbs fugitive was arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase through Waikiki yesterday.

About 5pm, police spotted a green Ford Falcon ute without registration plates travelling along Gascoyne Way.

It will be alleged the driver refused to stop for police and continued travelling south.

As he turned into Gnangara Drive, his Falcon allegedly fishtailed before colliding with a Kia Carnival station wagon travelling north along Gnangara Drive.

A police spokeswoman said the man tried to flee on foot but officers gave chase and arrested him on Charnley Gardens.

The driver of the Kia was not injured.

The 22-year-old Calista man had two outstanding arrest warrants.

He has been charged with reckless driving, failing to stop, no authority to drive and breach of bail.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court today.
