Topshop closer to Perth opening

Fashion giant Topshop is one step closer to the day it welcomes Perth shoppers through its doors for the first time.

The so-called fast fashion store's lettering for its sign – which is well-recognised among fashion lovers – went up above its double-storey, multimillion-dollar site at Carillon City in the CBD this morning.

Fashionistas were thrilled when the British store announced it was setting up shop in Perth for the first time this year.

Fast fashion's affordable on-trend clothing has ensured it remains a strong retail performer in Australia, and stores such as Topshop and Zara – which also will open stores in Perth this year – will hope to cash in on that trend.

Miu Miu to open Perth store

Carillon City owners Hawaiian and Brookfield have been redeveloping the western section of the arcade, which included demolishing some stores to be replaced by Topshop.

Hawaiian chief executive Russell Gibbs said the development showed retailers had confidence in the Perth market.

"Perth is growing rapidly and the redevelopment at Carillon City is part of that," Mr Gibbs said.

"The calibre of shops such as Topshop Topman and Zara opening in the CBD is a real feather in the cap for Perth as a city and shows that retailers have confidence in the growing property and retail market here.

"Hawaiian is very proud to be a part of this city growth and we're looking forward to Topshop opening later in the year."
