Car hits tree in Balga crash

A man was rushed to hospital after the car he was driving hit a tree in Balga last night.

The 19-year-old driver had to be cut free from his Holden Astra by firefighters after he rolled his car and hit a palm tree at the intersection of Beach and Wanneroo Roads at about 9.30pm.

A police spokesman said the man appeared to have lost control of the car and tried to correct, hitting the median strip kerb before the crash.

St John Ambulance took the man to Royal Perth Hospital under priority conditions. His injuries are understood to be non life-threatening.

Police do not believe alcohol and drugs were a factor in the crash.
