Active tribute from Dockers

For Dockers star Nat Fyfe, the Len Hall tribute match has special significance.

The midfielder made his AFL debut on Anzac Day 2010 as a teenager, getting 13 touches and kicking 1.4 against Richmond.

Now a star, he says paying tribute to servicemen will create a different atmosphere for tonight's clash with North Melbourne.

"It's fantastic to get the opportunity to acknowledge all the servicemen and women, both on active duty and in Australia," Fyfe said. "I really enjoy the opportunity to stand there for the gun salute."

The annual game, now in its 19th year, is named for WA's last Gallipoli veteran, who died in 1999. Trooper Hall enlisted aged 16 in 1915 with the 10th Light Horse.

Lighthorsemen Simon McAllister and Matt Trozzo said they were always conscious of the regiment's status in WA.

"We try to carry on the tradition and honour set long ago," Lance-Cpl McAllister said. "It's great to see so much appreciation, particularly for the veterans who didn't get it in their time."
