Dolphin close encounter

Perth electrician Oresta Morsella has had a remarkable encounter with one of the ocean's most intelligent creatures.

He and friend James Perry were fishing off Ledge Point, about 120km north of Perth, when after more than three hours and several decent catches, movement in the water startled the pair.

"We were about 10km out when a dolphin swam up," he said. "It splashed around in the water next to the boat and freaked us out."

The dolphin came within centimetres of Mr Morsella and his friend, lifting itself up out of the water when Mr Morsella took a closer look.

Mr Morsella said having his own private dolphin show was like nothing he had ever experienced.
