Cab passenger alleges indecent assault

Cab driver charged with assault

A 28-year-old taxi driver accused of indecently assaulting a female passenger was arrested when he dropped his alleged victim at a Perth police station.

A police spokesman said a woman in her 30s was picked up by a taxi from a Perth hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was driven to another location then returned to the taxi and asked to be taken to Perth police station.

It will be alleged the driver acted inappropriately towards the woman as he drove her to the police station.

"Upon arrival at the Perth police station, the woman asked the taxi driver to stay there and stated she would return shortly to be taken home," the police spokesman said.

"The taxi driver agreed to wait for her. The woman entered the police station and reported the matter.

"Police officers went outside to the waiting taxi and arrested the driver."

The 28-year-old Victoria Park man has been charged with indecent assault.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on April 17.
