The maximum temperature in Perth has dropped to below 26C for the first times in about three weeks, according to the Weather Bureau.

A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said Perth was seeing a cool change today after an unusually long, hot summer.

A maximum of 26C and partly cloudy conditions are forecast for today.

The clouds are predicted to clear tomorrow, when the maximum temperature is tipped to reach 27C.

Temperatures are forecast to lift to 32C on Tuesday and 33C on Wednesday.

This Perth summer was the second-hottest on record, with an average maximum temperature of 32C.

Perth had only three days where rain fell and not one drop fell last month - the first dry February since 2000.
