Jump in WA new home sales

New home sales across WA have climbed to their highest level since early last year as the State's housing market continues to improve.

Figures from the Housing Industry Association show more than 1400 homes were bought from the State's biggest builders last month.

That result represented a 7.3 per cent increase compared with November, during which private home sales fell 5 per cent.

Through the final three months of last year, detached home sales in WA were up 2.3 per cent to be almost 12 per cent higher for the year than 2012.

Nationally, last year was the first in five years that sales increased.

While home sales have climbed, private home approvals are falling. Between July and November, approvals across WA slipped 8 per cent.
