Police in riot gear were called to a party in Peppermint Grove overnight amid reports 500 youths were creating a disturbance.

A police spokeswoman said officers attended Manners Hill Park on Johnston Street about 9.20pm and found about 200 youths drinking.

The group smashed bottles and yelled abuse at police and help was sought from the Regional Operations Group officers, the WA Police Air Wing and other units.

The crowd was dispersed by 10.30pm.

No arrests have been made and no-one was injured.
