A man is facing court over a scrub fire in Gingin on Monday night.

Around 9pm on January 20, Emergency Services responded to a bush fire in the deep swamp land between Constable Street and Ingleby Court.

The size and intensity of the fire resulted in the evacuation of residents on both streets, before the flames were brought under control around 11pm.

A 22-year-old Koongamia man has been charged with breach of duty (failing to reasonably ensure that fire/ignition sources don't cause an out-of-control fire).

He is due to appear in Moora Magistrate's Court on February 5.
