Pinder's partner stands by her man
The partner of former Wildcat Kendal "Tiny" Pinder says the 57-year-old is a great father and should not be judged on his past misdemeanours.
Pinder's partner, who asked not to be named, said she had known the former basketballer for three years before the pair became romantically involved.
They have been together for four years and have a two-year-old son.
Pinder was last night behind bars at Hakea Prison.
Speaking from Sydney, Pinder's partner said he had been open and honest with her about his criminal convictions.
"Whatever is done is done," she said. "I only know him the way he is now, not the past, I don't care about what people think of him."
She said he had turned a new leaf and the couple were "a happy family".
She said their son had been left distraught by Pinder's extradition.
Officers from WA Police's regional investigations unit travelled to Sydney on Tuesday to extradite Pinder on a return to prison warrant.
He still has more than 1600 days to serve on his original sentence for sex assaults in WA.
He was released on parole in 1995 after serving more than two years of his sentence and was given permission to move to NSW.
Prisoners Review Board chairman Judge Robert Cock said that on November 29, 1995, the Parole Board was told that Pinder had been convicted in NSW of aggravated indecent assault and sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years and over 10 years.
He was sentenced to five years jail but has been a free man since his release.
Judge Cock said Pinder's parole was cancelled by the Parole Board on December 8, 1995, for reasons disclosed as "convicted of further offences".
Asked why it had taken WA Police nearly 18 years to bring Pinder back to WA, a police spokeswoman cited outstanding matters in NSW and legal issues.
