A Hamilton Hill woman has been charged after she allegedly robbed a Palmyra liquor store on her birthday yesterday and stabbed a shop attendant who tried to stop her.

The woman, who turned 31 yesterday, went into a BWS store on Carrington Street armed with a knife about 9pm.

She allegedly threatened staff and stole bottles of spirits before she was challenged by a male staff member.

It is alleged that when confronted, the woman pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed the man under the right shoulder blade.

The woman threw bottles from the shelves at other staff members before leaving the store.

St John Ambulance took the man to Fremantle Hospital at normal road speed.

The woman was charged with armed robbery and unlawful wounding and is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrate's Court today.
