The licensee of a South West tavern was allegedly bashed after he tried to break up a disturbance between two people in the hotel's accommodation last night.

The man went to the accommodation area of the Wokalup Tavern, located on the South Western Highway near Harvey, after hearing reports of a disturbance about 9.10pm.

The licensee spoke to the two men involved before he was allegedly struck by one of the men.

He fell to the floor and was assaulted again sustaining several lacerations to his face.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with unlawful wounding over the incident.

He will appear in Bunbury Magistrate's Court today.
