WA's most-played team sport, soccer, will flex its community muscle today by calling on the major political parties to commit $20 million to give the code a home.

The "For Football's Sake" campaign will include an online petition and video featuring stars of the game and WA footy legend Glen Jakovich.

Despite its huge WA following - 106,000 children and adults play the game each year compared with 96,000 who play Aussie Rules - soccer is homeless.

"Our call to arms is for football families to write to the party leaders saying it's time football got what it deserves," Football West chief executive Peter Hugg said.
