Hotels swish list has staying power

They are the hotel rooms favoured by millionaires, heads of state and celebrities when they visit Perth - lavish suites costing thousands of dollars a night and promising to please even the most discerning guest.

In Perth's newest and most luxurious hotel rooms every detail has been considered, with suites featuring everything from private entrances to unsurpassed views, chandeliers and wooden floors made from WA timber.

The Richardson Hotel and Spa director of sales and marketing Charlie Turnbull said she believed luxury travellers looked for local flavour, such as the hotel's 170sqm Kings Park suite with its polished wooden floors, open spaces and private balconies.

Ms Turnbull said the hotel's luxury suites were favoured by touring celebrities as well as guests looking to spend part of their holiday in an elegant room in Perth before heading to exclusive properties in places such as Margaret River and Karijini.

"It's a mix of clients - we have a lot of sophisticated high-end travellers, we have celebrities, musicians," she said.

"A lot more businesses are coming to Perth, too . . . we've got the designer labels coming to town so with that is associated the travellers."

Also hoping to tap into the luxury market, the newly opened Terrace Hotel has a 62sqm premier suite that allows guests to enter through a separate entrance on the eastern side of the building rather than walk through the lobby.

The room features an eight-seat dining table for dinner parties and teams restored fireplaces and hand-loomed carpets in the style of the Victorian and Edwardian eras with impressionist and modern art.

At the Crown Metropol Perth, the hotel's luxury 150sqm loft rooms were renovated last year and feature panoramic views of the Swan River and a huge bedroom, living area and balcony.
