Four juveniles were arrested in Hamilton Hill last night after leading police on a chase for nearly an hour.
About 1am, police started following a stolen Volkswagen Golf in Hamilton Hill.
Officers activated their lights and sirens but the driver did not stop, sparking a pursuit that lasted for about 50 minutes.
The police helicopter tracked the stolen vehicle as it travelled along the freeway, through Peel and back into Hamilton Hill.
The occupants abandoned the car near Keenan Street after damaging the tyres driving through bushland.
Police dog Ernie was called in to track the alleged offenders and found one juvenile hiding under the patio of a nearby house.
Sergeant Gerry Cassidy said the juvenile did not follow police orders and “resisted Ernie violently,” receiving minor injuries to his arm and buttocks.
Ernie received minor injuries.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Palmyra, has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failing to stop and no authority to drive.
His passengers, three boys aged 17, 15 and 14 from Perth’s southern suburbs, were charged with stealing a motor vehicle.
They are due to appear in Perth Children’s Court today.
