A 40-year-old Quinns Rock man has been charged after he allegedly shone a laser light at the police helicopter last night.

The helicopter was conducting aerial patrols in Perth’s northern suburbs when the man allegedly targeted it with the laser light about 10pm.

The man allegedly shone the light at the chopper several times.

Air crew activated a Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) systen and used it to direct police on the ground to the area where the laser shone from.

Officers found the man on Gordon Street shining the laser at the helicopter.

The man will be charged by summons with causing fear or alarm with laser or light to people in conveyances.
