A 15-year-old boy is in a critical condition after colliding with a ute on his motorised bicycle in Mahogany Creek yesterday.

Senior Constable Mark Cooper said the boy attempted a U-turn on Phillips Road, near Yacopetti Place, when he was struck by a Holden Rodeo coming around a blind corner just before 4pm.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The unconscious boy was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC rescue helicopter just after 5pm.

The female driver of the Holden Rodeo was visibly upset at the scene.

Sen. Const. Cooper said the retrofitted motorised bicycle was overpowered and not road legal.

Speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash
