A 62-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly robbed a Subiaco bank on a gopher yesterday afternoon.

A police spokesman said the man went into the Bankwest store on Rokeby Road about 2.40pm riding the electric wheelchair.

He said the man approached a female bank teller, demanded money and left the store.

It is understood the thief was missing a leg.

Police caught up with the man at the corner of Hamersley Road and Robinson Street and arrested him.

He was charged with robbery and was bailed to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court on January 24
