Man faces court over 'bag snatch'

A Nollamara man has made a brief appearance in court charged with aggravated robbery over an alleged bag snatch on a 74-year-old Mirrabooka woman whose hip was broken.

Leslie Barry Loo, 26, appeared in Perth Magistrate's Court this morning by video link from Hakea Prison charged with aggravated robbery, possessing methamphetamine, stealing, burglary and breach of bail.

Mr Loo is also facing two charges of stealing a motor vehicle and two stealing from a person over two other alleged bag snatches in Warwick and Osborne Park earlier this morning.

A 17-year-old boy is scheduled to appear in Perth Children's Court tomorrow charged with aggravated robbery, stealing from a person and stealing a motor vehicle allegedly used in the Mirrabooka robbery.

Mr Loo, who was not represented in court this morning, asked if his matters could be put through to the drug court.

Magistrate Brian Gluestein said Mr Loo would need a lawyer to make submissions on his behalf before a decision could be made.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court again on January 31.
