A man has been taken to hospital with serious burns after a truck fire in Redcliffe this morning.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said firefighters were called to Great Eastern Highway just before noon.

She said it was believed the man was refuelling a generator and spilt fuel on the truck exhaust, starting the fire.

The man was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where it is understood he was treated for burns to his arms and face.

The blaze caused $40,000 damage to the truck and $60,000 damage to other trucks nearby and is believed to have been a workplace accident.
