A 24-year-old Maddington man will face charges over a terrifying home invasion in Perth’s southern suburbs last night.

Police said a 66-year-old woman found a man rummaging through drawers in her bedroom about 11.30pm. The thief is believed to have entered the Kensington home through an unlocked door.

The man fled with several items, including the woman’s purse.

Two police dogs deployed to the scene found the alleged thief hiding on the roof of a nearby home soon after.

The man is due to appear in court today.
