A fire has gutted a fast food restaurant in Malaga this evening.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at the Red Rooster restaurant at about 6pm.

About 15 staff were evacuated from the building and those in nearby fast food restaurants were also evacuated.

Onlookers have described seeing flames of a couple of feet pouring from the building and windows of the restaurant.

The red rooster sign has been melted in the fire and there has been significant damage to the inside of the building.

Nobody was injured in the fire.

Fire crews are investigating the cause of the fire.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and Bonner Drive has been closed. Fire crews are mopping up at the scene.
