It's not every day you do a movie script reading with Hollywood stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudekis and Ed Helms.

But that's what teenager Chanel Marriott did a few weeks ago.

The budding 16-year-old actress moved from Manning to Los Angeles a year ago to chase stardom and has worked on 11 projects from features to independent films and web series.

But Marriott said her audition for the movie We're the Millers with Aniston and Dodgeball director Rawson Marshall Thurber was her Tinsel Town highlight.

"I felt as though I belonged," Marriott said. "I wasn't intimidated. I was so focused on being the character and doing my thing."

Though another actress got the part at the last minute, Marriott - on a brief visit to see family in Perth - said she was now more determined to crack into films.

"No matter what, I am going to pursue an acting career but the audition was the moment we knew we had to come back to LA," she said. "My goal is to land a lead role."

Marriott and her mother will fly to Sydney today to meet casting directors before heading back to the US on Sunday.
