Update 1.50pm Fire crews have contained a fire at an Attadale home that engulfed the garage and part of the single-storey property.

One person is reportedly in shock and an ambulance was sen to the Moreing Road property.

Police were also called after smoke from the blaze swept on to a nearby busy road.

The blaze was reported about 12.16pm but the cause is not yet known.

A Fire and Emergency Services Authority spokeswoman said five fire crews from Belmont, Fremantle and Murdoch attended the blaze and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.

One person has been taken to hospital but the extent of their injuries is not known.

The cause of the blaze will be examined by a fire investigation officer.
