Parts of the State have shivered through zero temperatures this morning.

In Perth the mercury plummeted to 3.1C degrees just after 6am, the coldest morning for the city since May 25 when a 1.3C was recorded.

Jandakot recorded the coldest minimum in the metropolitan area this morning at 0.03C.

Across the state, Collie recorded the coldest minimum with 0C and Bridgetown had 0.2C.

A string of cold nights and chilly mornings are in store for the metropolitan area as the weekend approaches with temperatures forecast to creep below 2C tomorrow morning and Saturday morning.

A top of 17C is forecast for today and 18C tomorrow.

The weekend will be sunny with a maximum of 19C on Saturday and 20C Sunday.
