Kimberley Mowanjum Festival
The Mowanjum Festival starts on July 12 at the Mowanjum Art and Culture Centre, 11km east of Derby on the sealed section of the Gibb River Road.
The event will start at 2pm with a workshop in boab carving and didgeridoo playing before a welcome dance about sunset. There'll also be traditional dances by the local Worrora, Ngarinyin and Wunumbul people and performances by groups from the Fitzroy River Valley and Warmun. The art gallery will be open until 9pm with ochre paintings, carved boabs and pearl shell carvings for sale.
Food, tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available. Entry is $20 for adults and $5 for children.

Tin Horse Highway book
For nearly two decades, the people of the Wheatbelt town of Kulin, 280km east of Perth, have been turning farm junk into the equine artworks that line the town's Tin Horse Highway.
The stories of the horses and their creators are told in a new book, Much More Than Metal, available at the Kulin Community Resource Centre or by calling the Shire of Kulin on 9880 1204.
Adventurous Women

New Bunker Bay menu
Executive chef Sven Hug has prepared a new winter menu at The Other Side of the Moon Restaurant at Quay West Resort Bunker Bay.
It includes off-the-bone dorper lamb shank tagine with cumin and tomato dhal, grilled marron with sauteed cabbage and speck with a local Channyridge olive oil foam, four-day marinated, slow-cooked beef cheeks in red wine and earthy aromatics with truffled potato mash; and duck breast with orange and vanilla compote, Jerusalem artichoke puree and pink grapefruit.
Desserts include Bombe Alaska, pan-baked quince tarte tatin with honeycomb clusters, crystallised violets and goat's curd ice-cream; and a warm chocolate fondant with raspberry and basil parfait.
