Reflecting a growing trend towards shorter getaways among Australian travellers, P&O Cruises has launched a new Facebook App which is designed to help travellers plan short getaways with friends.
According to P&O Cruises about 50 per cent of Australian travellers are taking holidays of an estimated two to four nights and the app has accommodated this factor by offering a number of short breaks. The getaways include cruises with themes such as comedy, lifestyle and food and wine.
The new app features a three-step getaway designing process which begins with a choice of pace and interest, is followed by the initiation of friends to join the cruise and then creates a photo mash-up of cruising and friends profile images.
Director of marketing at Carnival Australia, which operates P&O Cruises, Simon Cheng said the new app would help P&O Cruises reach 100,000 friends on Facebook.
"The new App is a great way for holidaymakers to plan a short cruise that offers a big break, and to invite their friends along. Through our Facebook page, cruisers can also chat to other passengers on their cruise even before their ship departs, building excitement about their upcoming holiday and opening the way to make even more friends onboard," he said.
