The cruises are of great significance to the travel community because they will be the first carbon neutral cruises, in history, to operate in the Antarctic region.

Adding to the diversity of their world-wide holiday options, Cruiseco, in conjunction with polar specialists Quark Expeditions are now offering cruise packages aboard the 189 passenger ship Ocean Diamond.

Sailing from Ushuaia in Argentina to Antarctica in November and December this year travellers will save 25 per cent if booked by April 30. The nine-day package is available from $5687 per person twin share and departs from Ushuaia November 21.

Also available are two 10-night packages on November 29 2012 and February 9 2013. The 10-night packages are available from $6368.

For travellers who wish to spend more time in the polar climate there are two 19-night packages available for $12993.

All packages include onboard dining, shore landings with professional expedition leaders, a Quark expeditions parka and waterproof expedition boots loan, a photographic DVD of the voyage, pre-departure material, group transfer to Ushuaia airport, all service taxes and port charges.
