Trinity’s scoring options on show in WA amateurs

Top team Trinity Aquinas had a handy percentage booster in the WA Amateur Football League A Grade last Saturday.

Trinity go into this week’s general bye with a 6-1 record and a percentage of 205 after their thumping of North Beach, 15.12 to 5.5, at home.

Even without star full-forward Ryan Murphy, who was unavailable to add to his 25 goals for the season, the league leaders scored well, notably small forward Cameron Neville who snared four majors.

Unlike the week before in wet conditions, there were no close games. University also had a 67-point win over West Coast, 17.11 to 7.4, at City Beach, Wesley Curtin belted winless Kalamunda 20.9 to 11.6, and second-placed Fremantle CBC saw off North Fremantle at Gilbert Fraser Reserve 11.13 to 8.7.

Kelmscott cemented third position by winning easily at Mt Lawley, though there was only eight points in it at half-time before the Bulldogs broke away to win 13.16 to 8.4.

In B Grade, Scarborough (second on the ladder) surprised Hamersley Carine (now fourth) with a six-goal win, 14.7 to 8.7, thanks to a seven-goal final quarter.

Top team Swan Athletic were too good at Wembley, winning 13.10 to 8.8. Wembley’s former AFL and WAFL forward Matthew Moody kicked five goals, as did Swan’s Jeremy Polich who has 18 for the season.
